Tenet Healthcare Corporation has agreed to pay $29 Million Dollars to settle claims asserted in a qui tam lawsuit filed by Isabel Ayers, a former employee. The allegations of the case were that the company’s subsidiary, Lifemark Hospitals of Florida, submitted false claims to Medicare seeking reimbursement for home health services, which were based on false statements or omissions regarding the patients medical condition, history and/or eligibility for coverage by Medicare. Additional allegations included claims that the defendant sought payment for services which were not rendered, were provided by unskilled, unlicensed or uncertified personal, were based upon insufficient, forged or missing documents, and/or that they were never ordered by a physician.

As part of the settlement, Ms. Ayers will receive $4 Million Dollars for having filed the qui tam case.
