August 3, 1994  Novell Inc.

One of the country’s largest manufacturers of software, Novell Inc. has agreed to pay $1.7 Million Dollars to settle claims asserted in a qui tam action filed by Mary Slutman, a former employee of Novell. The allegations of the case were that Novell failed to inform government negotiators fully about its pricing policies and to advise them that companies which sold Novell products to federal agencies received rebates from Novell. Under federal law, Novell was required to provide accurate information to the persons who were negotiating on behalf of the government for the purchase of Novell’s products.

As part of the settlement, Ms. Slutman will receive over $310,000 for having filed the qui tam case.
